JARS OF CLAY SERIES
It was noticeably missing from the 20 compilation and the accompanying series of acoustic webcasts that the band did on StageIt in 2014. The band hasn't completely disowned the album or even shown signs of being dissatisfied with it per se, but since it began life as more of a "various artists" collaboration that ended up becoming more of a "Jars of Clay with special guests" project somewhere along the way, they seem to put it in a different category than their other studio albums. Canon Discontinuity: Of a sort with The Shelter."Not all monsters are bad, but the ones that are good never do what they could." Always Chaotic Evil: Averted in "Good Monsters".note Word of God is that it's from the perspective of the musicians who played aboard the Titanic as it went down. All There in the Manual: Go listen to "Goodbye, Goodnight" (or just look up the lyrics) and try to guess what the song's about.'cause the long fall back to earth is the hardest part Album Title Drop: Although most of their albums (the Self-Titled Album excepting) have title tracks, The Long Fall Back To Earth (even though it has a title track that contains the lyrics and serves as an intro) also drops the title rather beautifully in Safe To Land:.
Tropes that apply to Jars Of Clay include:
20 (New recordings of fan-picked songs, 2014). Live at Gray Matters, Volumes I-IV (2010). Furthermore: From the Studio, from the Stage (acoustic/live double album, 2003). The White Elephant Sessions (B-sides & demos collection, 2000). To date, the group has released 10 full-length albums:Ī non-exhaustive list of other works includes: Even this popularity eventually faded to a degree until the band was left with a relatively small but loyal fanbase that still support them to this day. However after that debut album the group were all but forgotten in the mainstream music circuit while maintaining a very big presence in the Christian Rock industry through most of the 2000's. It consists of Dan Haseltine as lead singer, Charlie Lowell on keyboards, Stephen Mason on lead guitars and Matthew Odmark on rhythm guitars.įor most people, the band is remembered for the song, "Flood", which was such a huge hit that it gave the group the opportunity to tour with the likes of Sting during the late 90's and caused their debut album to go double platinum in the US. Shame, but that just proves that Jars of Clay have so many great songs, and this collection shows them off in a wonderful new way.Jars Of Clay is an American Christian rock band from Nashville, Tennessee, originally formed in 1993 at Greenville College in Illinois. Personally I wanted ' Famous Last Words', but sadly that didn't make it. If you're a fan of the band you will love this collection and I'm sure you might have voted for your favourite song. Jars of Clay have written so many great albums and songs over the last 20 years, and that explains why this is a double album. If only more bands decided to do so called Greatest Hits albums this way. The band have taken time out to record some of their fans personal favourites in a fantastic acoustic/reflective/stripped down way. This is like a fan's Greatest Hits with a nice twist. Other great songs and versions have to be ' Tea & Sympathy' and ' Boys', which have some great orchestral work on them. Then there's ' Fade to Grey' which sounds so much more beautiful in this acoustic stripped down version. The same can be said for the track ' Collide' from the same original album ' If I Left The Zoo'. Some of my favourite Jars song appear on this album, ' No One Loves Me Like You Do' is a great song and sounds so different to the original version, yet at the same time keeps the spirit of the song. "We have decided, in our 20th year, to record your 20 favorite Jars songs in that acoustic fashion." "20 years ago, we wrote our first songs together in college, and with the recent release of Inland, we are found grateful for the continued opportunity to share our stories and songs and hear how they connect to yours", explained the band.
